Eligibility Requirements
All American Crew: The Columbia Queen
is a United States flagged vessel, and as such it is subject to
U.S. labor laws which require that United States citizens fill all
licensed positions. Lawfully admitted legal aliens who are permitted
residents of the U.S. are allowed to hold a number of unlicensed
positions aboard our vessels. Great American River Journeys is not
able to hire foreign staff without valid work permits, nor do we
sponsor any foreign citizens.
Eligibility: All vessel employees must be at least
18 years of age and must be legally able to work in the United States.
Proof of eligibility will be required for submission as a condition
of employment. All crewmembers live and work on board and must obey
all crew rules and regulations. Great American River Journeys accepts
applications along with a resume for currently posted positions.
We request all applicants provide at least three verifiable work
references with current phone numbers.
Drug and Alcohol Testing: Great American River Journeys is committed to providing and maintaining a safe environment
for guests and all employees. As a condition of hire, all accepted
applicants would be required to undergo pre employment drug screening
as well as periodic random drug screening as required by the Department
of Transportation (DOT).
All vessel employees of Great American River Journeys will be subject
to the following categories of DOT/FHWA drug testing: pre-employment,
reasonable suspicion, post-accident/incident, and random. These
employees will also be subject to the following categories of required
DOT/FHWA alcohol testing: reasonable suspicion, post-accident/incident,
return to duty, follow-up, and random.
Background Check: As a condition of hire, all
accepted applicants will be asked to sign a release for Great American River Journeys to complete a background check.
